Training for the Management, academic & administrative staff and students of the Private Higher Education Institutions held in Tirana, Albania

In the framework of Erasmus+ Project “Strategic Support on Strengthening in the Quality Assurance Structures at the Private Higher Education Institutions in Albania” three days training was held on 13-15 February 2017 at the European University in Tirana, Albania.

The participants were welcomed by the Rector of European University in Tirana, Prof. Dr. Tonin Gjuraj who also gave an introduction speech, and the director of the National Erasmus +, Elona Saraci, gave a welcoming speech.

On the first day, the target group was the management and teaching staff. Moreover, four presentations were delivered and one discussion session was held. The presentations held were on the following topics:

  • Presentation of developed Guidelines and template questionnaire for research evaluation within the project, delivered by Prof. Dr. Peter Eckl from Paris Lodron University of Salzburg
  • Presentation of the results of survey and brainstorming sessions conducted with the PHEI in Albania and Kosova, delivered by Luljeta Aliu from WUS Kosova
  • Linking curricula development to the National Qualification Framework – Experiences from Romania, delivered by Prof. Dr. Mariana Mocanu from University Politechnica of Bucharest
  • Enhancement of Quality assurance: Programme design, delivery and monitoring, delivered by Prof. Dr. Agostino Massa from University of Genoa.

The discussion was held on the topic “Development and implementation of the tools (guidelines and questionnaire developed within the project) for research evaluation at the PHEI in Albania”, and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Peter Eckl and Prof. Dr. Mariana Mocanu.

On the second day, the target group was the administrative staff, and also nine presentations were held on the following topics:

  • The role of administrative staff in internal quality assurance – Experience of Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, delivered by Prof. Dr. Peter Eckl
  • The role of administrative staff in internal Quality Assurance – Experience from University of Genoa, delivered by Prof. Dr. Agostino Massa
  • The role of administrative staff in internal Quality Assurance – Experience from University Politechnica of Bucharest, delivered by Prof. Mariana Mocanu
  • Participation of Administrative staff in the internal quality assurance and accreditation processes in the private higher education institutions in Albania and Kosova, presentations by each beneficiary institution:
    - Turgut Ozal Education JSC-Epoka University, Albania
    - European University of Tirana, Albania
    - Marin Barleti University, Albania
    - University of New York, Albania
    - Polis University, Albania
    - Pjeter Budi College, Kosovo
  • After the presentations a workshop was held on the topic “What can be improved to increase the role of administrative staff in the QA processes?” and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Agostino Massa.

  • On the third day, the target group were the students. Furthermore, one workshop and eight presentations were held on the following topics:
  • Participation of students and their engagement in internal quality assurance procedures and reviews, delivered by Prof. Dr. Mariana Mocanu
  • The role of National Students’ Union in increasing participation of students in QA processes at the HEIs – Case study TEMPUS project SIHEKSU no 544357, delivered by Msc. Luljeta Aliu
  • From teacher-centered learning to student-centered learning, delivered by Msc. Luljeta Aliu
  • Experiences of the PHEI in Albania and Kosova on involvement of students in the QA processes, delivered by the students of each beneficiary institution:
    - Turgut Ozal Education JSC-Epoka University, Albania, delivered by Loren Senja
    - European University of Tirana, Albania, delivered by Megi Ruka
    - University of New York, Albania, delivered by Pranvera Guxho
    - Polis University, Albania, delivered by Dea Buza
    - Pjeter Budi College, Kosovo, delivered by Evliana Beran

    Additionally, after the presentations a session of recommendations and wrap-up was held to close the last day of the training. Moreover, after the training separate meeting of Project Management Board and Project Quality Board were held, with the member of the Boards.
